Our Story
Hi, we are the Smoots! We were just like any other family until February 24th, 2025. The day our 1.5 year old daughter, Lilah, was diagnosed with a grade four brain tumor. We received the news while Katelynn, Lilah’s mom, was in labor with our son, William. One of the most beautiful days of our life turned into one of the most tragic.
Treatment began promptly and statistics were thrown in our face. 50/50 odds they told us. A coin flip on whether or not our daughter would live or die.
A few months into our frontline treatment we thought about getting family photos done. We also thought about just waiting to schedule them until Lilah was done with treatment. This would give her hair a chance to grow back. But with these tragic odds thrown in our faces we realized there was no time to wait. We scheduled our family photos and now they are some of our most beloved memories.
How Forever Us Foundation was formed
After we had our own family portraits done during our daughter’s cancer diagnosis, we realized the need for this service. Every family deserves to have their whole family documented and cherished forever. However, photography is an expensive service and childhood cancer and terminal illness can cause financial hardship. We wanted to make sure every family facing these diagnoses could have their family memories preserved at no cost to them.
